Police estimate between 500 and 600 fans took part in the planned pre-match demonstration against Manchester United's ownership. This was a long way below the figure the 1958 United fans group said it expected to be present. It was colourful and noisy, though, and it was clear from chants inside the stadium, which are repeated every time United play, many have no affection for either the Glazer family or Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who become a minority shareholder in 2024 and is effectively responsible for running the club.
